Sports Injuries
Commonly sports injuries that Dr. Nodelman treats include plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, stress fractures, ankle sprains, deltoid injuries, shin splints, and other causes of leg pain. We work with a wide range of athletes, from professional to weekend warriors. No matter what level you are competing at, sports injuries can sideline you from your favorite activities.
Most sports injuries are caused by overuse or trauma. Overuse injuries occur when the tissue is stressed beyond its normal limits. This can happen from too much repetitive activity or from training too hard without giving the body enough time to recover. Traumatic injuries typically occur from a single event, such as falling or being hit by a ball. Both types of injuries can be painful and debilitating.
The good news is that most sports injuries can be treated successfully. With proper diagnosis and treatment, most people can return to their previous level of activity. In some cases, however, the injury may require surgery to repair the damaged tissue. Whatever the case may be, we will work with you to develop a treatment plan that will get you back in the game, on the track or on the slopes.
We are strongly opposed to the idea of complete activity restriction and immobilization unless absolutely necessary. Sometimes it can be more difficult to recover from the recovery! As such, it is important to fully assess the injury to determine the most appropriate modification and other treatments necessary for a recovery that keeps your athletic goals in mind.
