Running Injuries
The Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland area is a very active community and loves to run!
At District Foot and Ankle, we treat all injuries that involve the foot, ankle and lower leg. Common injuries include stress fractures, tendinitis, Achilles tendinitis, shin splints, and plantar fasciitis.
Not-so-common injuries can also be a cause of your pain. Some examples include chronic exertional compartment syndrome, Baxter’s nerve entrapment and popliteal entrapment syndrome.
The clinic has access to a foot and ankle x-ray unit and diagnostic ultrasound unit on site. You will not need to be referred to an outside facility for these studies.
Common treatment options that we can use include custom made orthotics, radial shockwave treatment, platelet rich plasma injections. We are also able to refer to local physical therapists, chiropractors, and other specialists if needed.
If injuries are more significant and require surgery we are trained to offer a variety of surgical options for fracture repair, tendon repair, plantar fasciitis surgery, and osteochondral defect of the talus surgery. Luckily, with the availability of advanced treatment options in the clinic setting, in many cases surgery can be entirely avoided.
We are here to work with you, your running coach, physical therapist and everyone else on the team to get you back into shape!
